Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Junior Electrical Engineer / Lab Technician to support the development and testing of advanced electronic systems. The role is ideal for students or recent graduates in Electrical or Computer Engineering who enjoy building and maintaining technical environments. The primary focus is managing the engineering lab, maintaining equipment, assembling prototypes, and supporting engineers through soldering, testing, and troubleshooting. Strong performers can grow into design engineering or lab leadership roles.
Description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize lab benches, tools, and inventory of components and test equipment.
- Perform soldering, PCB rework, and prototype assembly (including surface-mount components).
- Build and modify basic mechanical test fixtures as needed.
- Support hardware validation, system testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Assist engineers with setup, calibration, and safe operation of test equipment.
- Write and maintain clear documentation for test results, equipment usage, and lab procedures.
- Implement and uphold ESD and lab safety best practices.
- Support automation of test setups through basic programming or scripting.
Key Requirements
- US citizenship or permanent residency status.
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed an Electrical or Computer Engineering program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s).
- Demonstrated skill in soldering and PCB rework.
- Familiarity with basic circuits and the ability to read schematics.
- Strong organizational habits and attention to detail.
- Comfortable learning new tools and test equipment quickly.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with common lab instruments, including:
- Multimeter, power supply, oscilloscope
- Function generator, spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer
- Hardware debuggers and programmers
- Basic mechanical ability for building or modifying test fixtures.
- Familiarity with ESD procedures and lab safety.
- Exposure to RF testing or measurement (a plus, not required).
