onsemi is a seeking an engineer to join the Silicon Carbide JFET Division as a System applications manager. As a manager you will lead a fast-paced team that evaluates latest Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium nitride (GaN) technologies in various applications and architectures. This job involves a healthy mixture of management responsibilities, theoretical and simulation analysis, design and hardware validation of power supplies. Further, it includes constant interaction with leading datacenter power supply manufacturers and onsemi employees based out of America, Europe and Asia. This highly visible role will also involve travel (< 10%) to support customers across the globe and will have an opportunity to influence the roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a dedicated team of engineers specializing in power supplies for datacenter power conversion applications
- Study, simulate, propose various topologies and novel solutions to prove the technical value of our latest power semiconductors
- Design and validate Wide Band Gap based DC/DC, AC/DC converters primarily for AI data center applications. Architect and design eval boards and author application notes
- Support design and testing of evaluation boards, and author application notes and other collateral
- Work in a well-equipped cutting-edge high-voltage (800V dc plus) high-power (ten to hundred kW) lab.
- Work closely with technical marketing to create marketing collateral and attend tradeshows.
- Collaborate with customers across the world on cutting-edge power semiconductor problems and build long-lasting relationships.

Required Qualifications:
- BSc, MSc, or PhD. Degree in Electrical Engineering and min 15+ years of experience.
- Strong understanding of power supply topologies (DC/DC LLC, AC/DC single phase and three-phase) is required.
- Strong hands-on experience, testing high-voltage and high-power demo.
- In-depth understanding of WBG devices (SiC, GaN as well as IGBT and SuperJunction) and trade-offs.
- Well versed with circuit simulator tools like PLECS, Simetrix or equivalent.
- Good understanding of thermal design (heatsink) and FAE thermal simulation.
- Magnetic design (transformer and inductor) and validation is a plus.
- Fluent English language knowledge.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the design and testing of datacenter power supplies. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of datacenter components like power supplies, battery backup units, intermediate bus converters. This includes, various circuit topologies, power modules, thermal solutions, gate drive electronics and EMC issues.
