onsemi is hiring a self-directed and self-driven Defect Applications Engineer in Hopewell Junction, NY, with primary responsibility to develop Defect inspection strategies and deploy inspection recipes to enable aggressive learning. This includes but is not limited to optimization of defect inspection recipes for better DOI (Defect of Interest) capture, improvement of throughput, tool utilization, manufacturability and overall cost of ownership. This role will drive technical projects to improve variability and overall yield.

Requirements:
- BS degree in Engineering or a technical field. An MS degree is a plus
- Experience in semiconductor processing or a similar industry
- Knowledge of wafer thinning, sputter, plating, photolithography, and wafer bonding is a plus
- Experience working in cross-functional teams to achieve goals and metrics
- Experience with FMEA risk analysis is a plus
- Intermediate-level data analysis skills, specifically in Excel or JMP, using formulas, pivots, and charts, are required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills with experience in presenting technical project details
- Self-motivated and results-oriented
- Fluency (written and oral) in English required
onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $75,300-$120,400 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members. - Create defect inspection / review recipes using leading edge Brightfield, Darkfield, Macro inspection and/or SEM tools.
- Develop inspection strategy & methodology in support of technology development
- Drive continuous improvement to manufacturability and cost of ownership through productivity and fleet optimization.
- Create and execute DOE (design of experiments), analyze data and communicate results with recommendations to the broader technical teams.
- Provide effective leadership and mentorship to process technicians
- Required hands-on, day to day review of process and tool data, evaluation of defect monitoring strategies and understanding of defect mechanisms in support of continuous improvement.
- Drives broad technical across organizations in support of foundry business ramp.
- Required to work in a clean-room environment to execute or oversee activities
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
