This role is based in WASHINGTON, DC

The Director, U.S. Government Affairs will lead federal engagement to advance the company’s policy priorities and support business growth in the United States.
The role is responsible for developing and executing strategies with Congress, the Executive Branch, and key federal agencies to shape legislation, regulatory policy, and federal funding opportunities impacting the semiconductor industry.
This role will play a critical part in strengthening the company’s position in U.S. technology, industrial, and national security policy, including issues related to semiconductor manufacturing, supply chain resilience, defense technologies, and advanced electronics.
The position reports to the Head of Global Government Affairs and works closely with senior leadership, business units, and external stakeholders to align public policy engagement with corporate strategy.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, political science, business, international relations, or a related field required.
Advanced degree (J.D., M.P.P., M.P.A., or similar) preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in federal government affairs, public policy, legislative advocacy, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience working with Congress, federal agencies, and senior policymakers.
- Demonstrated experience working on appropriations, tax policy, trade policy, or industrial/technology policy.
- Experience representing a large, complex organization before government stakeholders and building effective relationships across government and industry.

- Strong understanding of the U.S. legislative and regulatory process.
- Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to translate complex policy developments into clear business implications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse internal teams and external stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
- Registered federal lobbyist or ability to register under the Lobbying Disclosure Act.
- Ability to travel periodically to key policy locations.

- Develop and execute federal government affairs strategy to advance the company’s priorities with the U.S. Congress and Executive Branch, including legislation, regulatory policy, and federal technology initiatives affecting the semiconductor industry.
- Lead congressional engagement with key committees and offices—including Appropriations, Armed Services, Commerce, Finance, and Ways & Means—to advocate for policies that support semiconductor innovation, domestic manufacturing, and national security technology programs.
- Advance federal funding and appropriations opportunities, including defense and research programs, by coordinating advocacy with congressional offices and aligning internal business priorities with federal technology and innovation initiatives.
- Engage executive branch agencies such as the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Treasury, and USTR to shape regulatory policy, technology initiatives, and government programs affecting the semiconductor ecosystem.
- Monitor and influence tax, trade, and industrial policy impacting the semiconductor sector, including export controls, tariffs, supply chain security initiatives, and incentives supporting domestic manufacturing and R&D investment.
- Represent the company with policymakers, industry coalitions, and trade associations, building strategic partnerships to promote policy outcomes that strengthen U.S. semiconductor leadership.
- Provide strategic policy guidance to senior leadership, translating legislative and regulatory developments into business implications and identifying opportunities to support long-term company growth.
