The Principal Design Engineer leads the architecture, design, and verification of advanced mixed‑signal and/or digital ICs that power onsemi’s automotive, industrial, and cloud solutions. This role drives innovation across the full product lifecycle—from concept and feasibility through silicon validation and production—while mentoring engineering teams and influencing long‑term technology roadmaps. • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IC design (analog, digital, or mixed‑signal), preferably in automotive, industrial, or high‑reliability markets.
• Proven track record of first‑pass silicon success on complex SoCs or mixed‑signal ICs.
• Expertise with industry‑standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor) for design, simulation, and verification.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, process technologies, and design‑for‑manufacturability.
• Experience with functional safety (ISO 26262), AEC‑Q100, or other high‑reliability standards is highly valued.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead cross‑functional technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with power management ICs, motor control, image sensors, SiC/GaN power devices, or high‑speed interfaces—key onsemi product domains.
• Familiarity with machine learning‑enabled design, advanced modeling, or system‑level simulation frameworks.
• Background in automotive ADAS, industrial automation, or cloud power infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to influence architecture decisions and drive long‑term platform strategies.

• Own end‑to‑end IC design including architecture definition, block‑level design, modeling, RTL/mixed‑signal implementation, and integration into complex SoCs.
• Develop system‑level specifications in collaboration with product, systems, and applications teams, ensuring alignment with automotive, industrial, and cloud/5G requirements.
• Lead design reviews and provide technical direction across analog, digital, mixed‑signal, and verification teams.
• Drive innovation in power efficiency, sensing accuracy, signal integrity, and reliability to meet onsemi’s performance and sustainability goals.
• Perform advanced analysis including timing closure, noise coupling, power optimization, corner simulations, and reliability assessments (EM/IR, aging, safety).
• Collaborate closely with process technology teams to optimize designs for onsemi’s internal and external foundry technologies.
• Guide post‑silicon validation, debug, and characterization to ensure first‑pass success and robust production ramp.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building strong design methodologies, reusable IP, and best practices.
• Support customer engagements by providing deep technical expertise during design‑ins, reviews, and issue resolution.
• Contribute to long‑term technology roadmaps and strategic decisions on architectures, IP reuse, and platform development.
