Job Summary:

onsemi is currently seeking a hands-on Process Engineer. This person will lead material qualification projects for alternate suppliers and conversions (e.g., etched to stamped leadframes and clip frames, EMC consolidation, Cu wire conversion, direct material alternate sourcing, HDLF proliferation). Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Planning, Procurement, Engineering and Operations) to ensure timely qualification and implementation. Ensure compliance with reliability and quality standards during material changes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with 1+ years of industrial/manufacturing experience, or advanced degree with relevant lab experience.
  • Experience with JMP, Minitab, Tableau or similar software preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to manage conflict in a stressful environment.
  • Understands and listens to team members and fosters a productive team environment.
  • Handles multiple projects and priorities.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in advanced techniques with relevant software: MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. in addition to experience working within shared work environments.
  • 10% domestic and international travel.



Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Procurement Team on help needed / support on potential and on-going qualification of alternate suppliers with lower cost.
  • Initiate technical design review (TDR) requests and follow through with potential alternate leadframe / clip suppliers for agreement until closure.
  • Initiate PR (Purchase Req) for stamping / etched tools, kits and FAI samples for qualification/ Safe Launch (pre-production) materials.
  • Initiate request and submit new qual materials / FAI (First Article Inspection) samples to IQC for inspection.
  • Consolidate impacted devices list and collaborate with Rel Engg for Rel Qual Plans.
  • Initiate Horizon Impact Analysis and PCNs (as applicable), including materials preparation and collaboration with EBR (Engineering Build Request) team on customer samples builds/requests.
  • Generate CAB (Change Action Board) Infobook and initiate Technical peer reviews and CAB reviews until approval. CAB reviews are Pre-CAB, Final CAB and Post CAB (Safe launch results)
  • Submit Rel Test requests.
  • Submit EBRs for qual builds and collaborate with EBR team during processing (Assembly to Test) until completion and ensure ALR data are being gathered.
  • Consolidate ALR data as part of the CAB presentation material and to proceed with reliability testing.
  • Submit units for Rel testing with proper identification.
  • Collaborate with Process Eng'g and Equipment Maint teams on process characterizations, ALR requirement and equipment conversions related to new materials qual'n or any material changes requiring new parameters.
  • Consolidate and analyze qual results from Assy to Test, and present through CAB for review and approval.
  • Collaborate with Planning (securing wafer, materials and equipment allocation) and Production team (Resource allocation) on Safe Launch activities until Post CAB review and approval.
  • Collaborate with IQC and discussion with Suppliers regarding material related problems/issues encountered during qualification and Safe Launch until resolved.
  • Update necessary BOM (buildsheets, package kits) and specifications for OPNs and processes affected by newly qualified materials (as applicable).
  • Collaborate with Procurement/ Planning teams on Phase-in / Phase-out plan and timing of full release Production.
    Resolve issues encountered during the entire qualification process.
