onsemi is currently seeking a hands-on Assembly Process Engineer to join our External Manufacturing team with a focus on assembly processes, preferably with experience in DA, WB or mold process. In this role, you will leverage your strong expertise in leading cost savings initiative across multiple subcons. This position will be based in Penang subcon office and report to External Manufacturing Manager in KL.

  • The successful candidate will have, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and or Physics.
  • 10+ years of industrial experience in either DA, WB or mold process engineering environment.
  • Experience with Minitab or JMP Statistical analysis software preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess, and solve problems.
  • Experience with project management and multi-stakeholder management
  • Experience with data-driven continuous improvement, Six Sigma training preferred.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to manage conflict in a stressful environment.
  • Understands and listens to team members and fosters a productive team environment.
  • Handles multiple projects and priorities.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in advanced techniques with relevant software: MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. in addition to experience working within shared work environments.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required depending on project assignment

  • Subcon operation management – focus on delivering best-in class subcon performance in quality, yield, delivery
  • Experience in assembly FOL and/or EOL processes, with expertise in either DA, WB or mold.
  • Experience in DOE methodology & tools (Minitab, JMP) to develop new process window or to assist in problem solving
  • Good problem-solving skills, able to identify & resolve assembly process problems/defects, perform root cause analysis & implement robust corrective actions
  • Manage change control processes & documentations, including risk assessment, schedule planning, budget planning.
  • Manage effective communication between cross functional team – BU, planning, reliability engineering to drive on-time execution & release of change project
  • Adoption of data analytics and data-driven approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in DA/WB/mold process and be able to guide/lead team members in problem solving and Best Known Methods (BKM) fanout
  • Drive continuous improvement in subcon’s quality & assembly yield performance
  • Accountable for seamless operation in subcon – provide maverick lot disposition & verification
  • Other tasks as needed or assigned.
